ARDMS is currently accepting, processing and approving applications for this examination. Pearson VUE our test vendor is open and operating, however at limited capacity and locations. After passing the SPI examination, you can earn additional credentials without having to retake the SPI examination, provided you maintain active status. You must wait 60 days before you can retake the BR examination if you do not pass it however, you are welcome to reapply after 3 days. The BR examination assesses the knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of normal breast as well as breast abnormalities that are found with screening or diagnostic mammography. The hotspot questions are Advanced Item Type questions that assess and measure your practical sonography skills.

A breast sonogram is a specialized procedure often used to follow up an abnormal mammogram or clinical exam. A doctor will then analyze the images and use them in diagnosis. You might also assist with interventional procedures, such as biopsies.
The Breast Sonography curriculum provides registered mammographers the didactic and clinical experience necessary to become registered breast sonographers. Course work includes breast pathophysiology; physics, instrumentation, and equipment operation necessary to perform diagnostic and interventional breast sonography procedures; and clinical breast image production and evaluation. Individuals entering this curriculum must be a registered Radiologic Technologist and a registered Mammographer. The Breast Sonography program is a one to two semester spring and summer certificate program. The program is offered totally online with the exception of the scanning labs and clinical practice rotations.
